When Ace Frehley comes to town, his diehard fans always show up. Such was the case when Ace had last packed the same venue on back to back nights at the Bears Den in 2008. Ace along with his solid band ripped through a 70-minute set Saturday evening that featured several lost Kiss classics and some of Frehley’s solo material.

Kicking things off with the song that kicked off his 1978 solo album “Rip It Out”, he played such lost classics as “Hard Times” from Dynasty as well as pair of cuts culled from Hotter Than Hell in “Parasite” and Strange Ways”. The song of the night “Rock Soldiers” had fists pumping in the air. Despite the Bears Den not having a bad seat in the house, the majority of the capacity crowd decided to stand for the whole show.

Frehley’s band consisted of drummer Matt Starr, bassist Zach Throne guitarists Jeremy Ashbrock and Ryan Spencer Cook. While it wasn’t the best performance by Frehley in Buffalo, (that would go back to his days with Kiss) his solid band made it a commendable performance. At 71, to be able to see Frehley still performing and using all his arsenal such as his smoking guitar for example, was a treat for all.
