Lynyrd Skynyrd once again stepped foot on the outdoor stage at Artpark Tuesday evening. The band was survived a scare recently when founding member Gary Rossington had to have a medical procedure to address some blockage in the arteries to his heart. After taking a week off Rossington and the band were back at it and the band delivered a show that was simply amazing.

The crowd roared on when singer Johnny Van Zant yelled “Lynyrd Skynyrd’s in the house! With that the band carried on to play what this reviewer calls the band’s most memorable show to date at the scenic venue. The show marked the band’s fourth appearance at Artpark. Van Zant also made mention to the fact how full the venue was for a Tuesday. The one thing you can count on is a full house every time the band visits.

Highlights from the band’s set included “That Smell”, “What’s Your Name” and “I Know A Little” all from Skynyrd’s 1977 Street Survivors album. An electrifying performance of “Gimme Three Steps” followed by “Call Me The Breeze” sealed the deal before “Sweet Home Alabama” brought it all home.

The band came out for one encore, needless to say there wasn’t a person in the venue who didn’t know that “Free Bird” would end the night. It put another feather in Skynyrd’s performance cap.

One thing that was quite evident was with the conviction Rossington played with on song after song. For a guy who just came back from what he had recently gone through and play with the tenacity and precision that he did shows how much pride and dedication he has for his craft. Yes, Skynyrd was in the house and boy were they ever!
