The Seneca Niagara Events Center hosted a rare acoustic show Saturday evening as singer-songwriter Jewel played to a packed house. Generally the Casino’s smaller, more intimate venue, The Bears Den is reserved for such shows. On this particular night Jewel transformed the spacious Events Center into an intimate experience as she delved into several songs including one yet to be recorded.

Touring for her recently released Greatest Hits effort, Jewel even managed to take a few requests from the audience while still playing several of her key songs that helped shape her career. She told a few stories on how the songs came to be as well as about how she arrived at this point in her life.

At her disposal were a total of four guitars in which she took turns using as she made her way undaunted through a fairly lengthy set that stretched near the one hundred minute mark. The set featured most of her biggest songs such as “Hands” and “Standing Still” as well her latest single “Two Hearts Breaking” which appears on her new Greatest Hits release.

Several fans shouted out compliments and the usual belting out of songs they would like to hear as Jewel took it all in and played a few fan requests such as “Adrian” a song she said she hadn’t played in a long time. She closed out the main set with her two highest charting Billboard Hot 100 songs “You Were Meant For Me” and “Who Will Save Your Soul”.

Jewel’s immense talent was on display front and center Saturday evening as she was in top notch form. Her vocals and guitar playing were spot on as she exhibited her versatility in her music as well. For those who have never experienced Jewel in a live setting, it is one thing you need to add to the old bucket list. You will not leave disappointed.
