When Wes Scantlin is on top of his game there are few better front-men from his era. As evidenced by Puddle of Mudd’s performance at the Batavia Downs Friday night, this was exactly what the fans wanted to see. Scantlin has now been sober for almost a year and it shows on stage. After what seemed like an eternity Godsmack and Shinedown finally returned to the Darien Lake Amphitheater Tuesday night. It marked both bands first appearances since they both appeared at the Uproar festival in 2012. The crowd of 10,000 strong sat through the rain which started during Shinedown’s set and continued on through Godsmack’s. Both bands delivered the goods as both have recently released new albums and the new songs sounded great mixed with the older material. Continue reading →

The Rockin at the Downs concert series drew a decent crowd for what turned out to be an absolutely gorgeous evening this past Friday. Asia featuring John Payne delivered a fantastic show during their 90-minute set. Also, on the bill were the national Fleetwood Mac tribute band Rumours who played a solid set of their own. The Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour rolled into the Darien Lake Amphitheater this past Friday. If this is how Lynyrd Skynyrd wants to be remembered by as going out on a high note, they sure left no stone unturned. Led by co-founder and sole remaining original member, guitarist Gary Rossington, the band delivered an extra special high-energy rock and roll show southern style as only they do.
