No wonder this date was added on after the initial tour announcement as the demand was there as evidenced by the near capacity house out at St. Joseph’s Health Amphitheater Friday evening. The message was clear that he was here to not only oblige his dedicated fan base by playing many of the songs they know and love but to also let them know he is not an oldies act and conjured up a set list to also please himself. It had been a long time since Lionel Richie last played the Buffalo, NY area. His appearance in 2000 at the arena was his last prior to his visit Friday to the outdoor stage at Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino. Despite a near ninety minute delay due to flight issues, Richie finally took the stage much to the delight of the very patient crowd who were kept preoccupied by having the Buffalo Bills pre-season game being shown on the massive screens on the sides of the stage. Last year Quiet Riot played a show at one of the local clubs where they came from 2 timezones and were very tired and exhausted. It was plain to see. Kelly had other commitments the last visit to town by Quiet Riot while Sarzo replaced bassist Chuck Wright. Continue reading
