It is amazing how things work out sometimes isn’t it? Take for example Twisted Sister. In early February it was announced the band had to cancel their reunion tour plans due to vocalist Dee Snider’s health issues. They also stated the future of the band would be determined in a few weeks. At that point I said to myself that the perfect replacement would be Sebastian Bach. Little did I know that was exactly what guitarists Jay Jay French and Eddie “Fingers” Ojeda had in mind. Thursday evening the band with Bach in tow stormed the OLG Stage at Fallsview Casino and ripped through a seventy minute set. They fed all the “SMF”s” the necessary elements of the Twisted Sister catalog to have them leave on cloud nine.

Once AC/DC’s “It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ’n’ Roll) started blaring you knew it would just be a matter of time for the band to take the stage with their general opener “What You Don’t Know (Sure Can Hurt You)”. Without skipping a beat they then launched into “You Can’t Stop Rock ’n’ Roll” one of the best best loved songs. Bach sounded pretty solid belting out the evenings as expected. One highlight was when he dedicated “The Price” to Dee Snider as he called it one of the most beautiful ballads ever written.

French and Ojeda are the only remaining members from the bands classic 80’s lineup. To beef up the lineup, they brought in drummer Joey Cassata. Cassata previously played in Z02. Bassist Russell Pzütto took over from longtime bassist Mark Mendoza and was solid all night keeping the groove.

Props to the band for also adding in a pair of Skid Row cuts. So not only did we get Twisted Sister prime cuts but also two Skid Row gems in “I Remember You” and “Youth Gone Wild”. Those two songs were enhanced by Michelle Ojeda, Eddie’s daughter on background vocals. The one thing that was quite evident was how much everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves delivering these songs once again to an appreciative audience.

Twisted Sister had not toured since 2016 and prior to that they would only average a dozen or so shows a year. They have five shows left on this tour. What the future holds is anyone’s guess. With how successful the shows have been up to this point it would not surprise me if the band did a select number of dates next year as well. Long live Twisted Sister!!!
