Shania Twain holds so many distinctive records and recognitions it would take quite a while to list them all here. The first one that stands out the most is that she is the best-selling female artist in country music history. That alone says a lot and that she did it with just six studio releases makes it more amazing. Seven number one singles topping the Country charts and three diamond album certifications in the U.S. alone.
Twain brought her show out to the Darien Lake Amphitheater Saturday night for a fun-filled time for all and she did not disappoint. Her show had a little something for everyone. She sang Happy Birthday to a fan and also brought a young fan and their grandparents up on stage for a few minutes and you can tell Twain was enjoying the moment.
Twain is currently out on the road as an extension of her Queen Of Me tour and the Darien Center show was one of just nine U.S. shows. She had last played here in 2023 at the arena. This show seemed to have more energy and pizazz than the last time I saw her in 2015.
Ironically she opened with “Rock This Country!” the same song she opened that 2015 show with. From there she sprinkled the set with a good mix of things like the more recent “Giddy Up!” as well as some of her classics like “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and “Honey I’m Home”.
Another highlight was the acoustic segment that saw Shania on a stool playing guitar highlighted by an arousing rendition of “You’re Still The One”. That song was a crossover hit that gave her a #2 hit on the Billboard 100 chart.
Twain has remained quite active with Queen of Me being released in 2023 and the more frequent touring she does. It is good to see her out on the road and delivering the goods.
Opening the show was none other than Andy Grammer, who was tapped to open both NY state shows. Grammer’s most recent album Monster was released in 2024. Grammer did a fine job to help set the tone for the evening. From “Honey, I’m Good”, to big radio hit “Keep Your Head Up” and “Don’t Give Up On Me” Grammer treated the crowd to see of his finest songs. This guy is a true talent let’s hope he comes back to town soon.
