The latest tour from Micky Dolenz sees him celebrating The Monkees. Dolenz who is the last surviving member also decided to pay tribute to Headquarters, the third Monkees album released in 1967. The three show run were matinees starting promptly at 3 PM at the Fallsview Casino Resort.

The show was a mix of the great songs from Headquarters as well as the big Monkee hits. It also blended in nicely with videos on each member of the Monkees broken off into individual segments. Headquarters was the first Monkees album where the band were allowed to create amongst themselves. The final tour that featured more than one Monkee was back in 2021 when guitarist Michael Nesmith and Dolenz went out for a run of shows. Sadly less than a month after the tour ended, Nesmith passed away at the age of 78.

Even at 78, Dolenz still sounded in good voice as he pulled off songs he normally sings on like “Last Train To Clarksville” and “I’m A Believer” without any problems. He also sang some songs he normally doesn’t sing like “Shades of Gray” and “Sunny Girlfriend”. The show also featured Dolenz performing “Mr. Webster” which is the first time the song has ever been performed by any version of the band.

To put it all in perspective the Monkees were the biggest American band at their height of popularity. Four of their first five albums reached number one on the charts as well as received platinum certification. They also had three songs top the charts as well as numerous top-40 hits. It has been a remarkable ride for Dolenz who will continue to keep the memory of the Monkees alive by doing shows as long as he can.
