Oh what a night indeed as Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons brought decades worth of beloved hits along with some wits and put on a splendid show at Shea’s Performing Arts Center Friday evening. Valli’s huge ensemble took to the stage as a video montage showed clips and images of Valli’s past. As the stage lights came on, out came Valli and he broke into his #1 smash “Grease.”

Valli performed all the expected hits such as chart toppers “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Walk Like A Man” and “Rag Doll.” Valli intertwined telling stories about a few of the songs as well as mixing in humor like when he introduced “Silence Is Golden” and dedicated it to the all the people in the witness protection program.

Valli also took the time to play a segment of the show that featured songs from the 1960s that he always wanted to record so he finally did on his 2007 release Romancing The ‘60s. The night would not be complete without his 1976 smash “December 1963 (Oh What A Night) as each member of Four Seasons were spotlighted. Each introduced themselves afterwards followed by Valli who said “I’m Frankie Valli and I’m just a Jersey Boy.

At seventy-nine years of age, Valli still sounded good and seemed to really enjoy dishing out some of the greatest music ever recorded during the near two hour performance. Not only were the baby boomers in the audience reliving memories from their past, Valli also was giving a music history lesson to several first timers in the audience. In the end it left everyone standing, applauding in unison showing their appreciation for all that Valli has accomplished in his career. What a fantastic stroll down memory lane it was for anyone who attended the show.
