Candlebox made a return visit to the area, appearing at The Bear’s Den Saturday evening inside the Seneca Niagara Casino. With the intimate setting of the Bear’s Den, one would expect the band to do a storytellers type show but they opted for a normal show touring in support of their 20th Anniversary of their self-titled debut. Candlebox remains the Seattle band’s best selling album to date and has been certified four times platinum.

Kevin Martin took to the stage barefoot as the band began with “Bitches Brewin’” a song from Into The Sun their 2008 release. The band played fourteen songs which included the full eleven tracks from the debut, which were spread throughout the night. Surprisingly the band only broke into one song from Love Stories & Other Musings their most current release, which came out in 2012.

Martin must of taken note of the tight security and during “You” took a fan’s camera who was filming video and walked up to guitarist Peter Klett and filmed a moment of him before filming drummer Scott Mercado for another 10 seconds before recording himself up close and personal and gave the camera back. Following he announced the band didn’t care if the crowd took pictures or video for that matter which earned a huge cheer from the three quarters full Bear’s Den which at that point made it an easy night for security to just sit back and make sure no one did anything blatantly wrong.

The main set closed out with the goods as “Cover Me” and the bands highest charting single “Far Behind” brought things to a close.

Candlebox have had a steady lineup now for the past six years when bassist Adam Kury joined. The band trudges on and to date all their studio releases have charted on the Billboard 200. The show was a good way to pay homage to the fans for their support of twenty years. Bring on the next twenty.
