Saturday evening marked the long-awaited return of San Francisco’s Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (BRMC) to town. The band hadn’t played in Buffalo since their last appearance at The Tralf Music Hall well over a decade ago. Currently riding through with their recently released album Wrong Creatures in tow, the band picked up where they left off. That album by the way marked their first release in some five years. To say they’re back with a vengeance was an understatement. Continue reading

One thing that can be said about musician-songwriter Jackson Browne is he really knows how to end a concert. The show marked this reviewer’s second time seeing Browne and he put on a clinic on how to send the fans away on a high note. His two-hour set was quite impressive as he and his band displayed their talents throughout the night. You can tell Browne was having fun as after a fan yelled out for “For Everyman” Browne obliged. Following “Somebody’s Baby”, he mentioned how they play that one for the really good crowds. After that all bets were off as to where the night would lead to. Continue reading

Like any other band that has been around over thirty years, Night Ranger has a very interesting history. While they hit their popularity peak in the mid 80’s, they are still releasing records and touring quite frequently averaging 50-plus shows a year these days. Bassist/vocalist Jack Blades made it a point to the near capacity crowd that they will continue to do both. Blades reiterated what he told us in an interview last year “I got a philosophy if you stop creating that’s when you start dying inside.” Continue reading

Eddy Clearwater has been in the music business for over 60 years. He is one of the last of his breed of a traditional bluesman. He was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2016 which was long overdue. He was born in Macon, Mississippi and moved to Chicago in 1950 and has been there ever since. “The Chief” is still going strong touring across the globe and releasing new music. Not bad for a guy who is 83 years of age. We recently had the opportunity to talk to the legend himself and he gave us the scoop on what has been a gratifying career. Continue reading

Benatar & Giraldo Shine In Niagara Falls

While the weather outside was anything but delightful, the Seneca Niagara Event Center was heating up with a fantastic evening featuring Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo. The two performed as a duo in a stripped-down storytellers-like format. With Giraldo alternating between acoustic guitars and a piano, the two delivered a mostly satisfying set that featured new songs “Shine” and “After The Fall” both which received a great response from the near sellout crowd.
