The Steve Miller Band played the big OLG Stage inside the beautiful Fallsview Casino Resort last night. It was a packed house that showcased Miller at his finest even at the age of 80 years old. He has not lost any of his golden guitar playing ability as he delved out classic rock staples one after another. The 85-minute set was encapsulated with many songs that may not have been released as singles but are considered gems of the catalog such as “The Stake” and “True Fine Love”.

The band behind Miller was rock solid and included the longest tenured member Kenny Lee Lewis on bass. Lewis has been in the band playing guitar or bass since 1982. The band also featured Joseph Wooten on keys, Jacob Petersen on guitar and drummer Ron Wikso who came aboard in 2021. What a treat to hear these guys in the best sounding venue of its size in Niagara Falls.

Miller came out swinging with “Swingtown” right out of the gate. He sprinkled in a few gems as well his number one smash “Abracadabra” which topped the charts in 1982. Oddly enough that song proved to be Miller’s last top-40 entry on the Billboard singles charts. To see what this band is capable of, you need to look no further than their amazing version of “Stranger’s Blues”. That allowed the band to close out the show with one smash after another. Ending with “Take The Money and Run” and “Rock’n Me” was a sight to behold. Then coming out for the encore with “The Joker” before saying “Let’s do one more shall we?” as he dedicated “Jet Airliner” to Les Paul.

Having seen Miller a few times in the past, I would say I have never seen him smile as much as he did tonight. I believe with this whole Rock Hall thing now behind him he is finally enjoying life to the fullest. It was good to see Miller and his band enjoying themselves and the ones who really were rewarded were the fans. There is nothing like seeing a band fire on all cylinders which the Steve Miller Band was clearly doing Friday night at OLG Stage.
