The Seneca Allegany Event Center came alive to the sounds of Ed Kowalczyk and Live Saturday evening. This was a makeup date from a 2023 postponement. This was one of the best sounding shows I have attended at this venue. It was dialed in perfectly no matter where you were in the venue. Kowalczyk still sounds as good as he did back when they were pushing millions of albums perhaps even better.

Kowalczyk may be the sole survivor when it comes to original members of the band with the others leaving after the last few years but the guys who are now on board do not miss a beat. Drummer Robin Diaz, bassist Chris Heerlein and guitarist Zak Loy stay true to the band’s sound and do the catalog justice.

This was a run of four dates marking the band’s first performances for 2024. Amazing how good the band sounded after about 6 months off. Highlights from the night included “All Over You” which was quickly followed by “Selling The Drama” perhaps the top two songs in thew catalog for me. “I Alone” appeared as the first song of the encore which concluded with a compelling version of “Lightning Crashes” the fitting song to end the evening with.

One thing fans are hoping for is a new studio album. The last album, The Turn, remains the only album to not feature Kowalczyk, making the 2006 release Songs From Black Mountain the last one he appears on. That being said a near twenty year gap since the last Live release that Kowalczyk appears on is mind boggling. They need to get an album out pronto! End of short rant.
