When arriving at the Batavia Downs Friday evening, I was amazed to see there was not a parking spot to be found. Upon entering the track I could see that this was the fullest I ever seen for a show. Sure enough when the Director of Marketing announced we had a new record for attendance it was no surprise. Once the schedule was released this year this was the one show I knew would draw well and boy did it ever.
Although the current band only has Don Barnes, vocalist and guitarist as its only original member, the band has been together for a good number of years with guitarist Jerry Riggs being the most recent addition as he came aboard in 2019.
Drummer Gary Moffatt, bassist Barry Dunaway and keyboardist Bobby Capps comprise the current version of the band. Despite not having any original members than Barnes, the band continues to perform with top-notch live shows.
If you came wanting to hear certain songs from the vast catalog chances were you would have heard it. From gems like “Rockin’ Into The Night”, “Caught Up In You”, and “If I’d Been The One” to soundtrack gems “Teacher Teacher” and “Back To Paradise”, the band covered all bases. A great time was had by all despite the very large crowd.
