Niagara Falls played host to Taylor Momsen, Ben Phillips, Mark Damon and Jamie Perkins, also known as The Pretty Reckless. The band is out in support of their third effort, Who You Selling For, with touring bands Them Evils and The Holy White Hounds.
Momsen is a force to be reckoned with, to say the least! With her hypnotic stage presence she had the nearly sold out crowd’s utmost attention. Momsen passionately belted out fan favorites such as “Make Me Wanna Die”, “My Medicine”, “Follow Me Down” and a few deeper cuts off both previous albums. She spent the majority of the performance with her hair draped over her face, as if she was hiding. This was possibly the only real disappointment of the evening.
“Heaven Knows” showcased guitarist Ben Phillips’ talent, while the encore performance of “Fucked Up World” highlighted Jamie Perkins via an ol’ fashioned drum solo. Momsen’s tambourine skills also made an appearance.
As a whole, The Pretty Reckless is an outstanding live band. If I could change only one thing about the live show, it would be the amount of stage time. Fans would agree, I think, that the show went by too quickly, sadly. With that being said, I would definitely suggest that you do yourself a favor and catch them live, VERY soon! Everything seems to point in the direction of UP for this group of gifted artists; and I, for one, am looking forward to what they have in store for the future.
