P.O.D. is back. The band that brought you the songs “Southtown,” “Alive” and “Youth of the Nation,” are back with their new release Awakening. Singer Sonny Sandoval and gang have delivered a more radio and listener friendly album than their past few.
The album starts of with what is sure to be a setlist mainstay in “Am I Awake”. A pair of collaborations highlight the disc. In This Moment’s Maria brink duets on “Criminal Conversations” and Sick Of It All’s Lou Koller guests on the title track.
The album is very catchy although The band does have a pair of cuts that you can lump into the nu metal category for which the band is most known for in “Rise of NWO” and “Revolución” two of the weaker tracks in my opinion.
Other noteworthy cuts on Awakening include “This Goes Out To You” and the slowest track on the disc “Want It All”
The band has put together a good mix of songs that will appease the old fans and should also gain them new followers with the expected heavy airplay this album should receive.
