The Little Black Dress tour touched down in Lewiston, NY at the Artpark outdoor amphitheater Wednesday evening. It’s hard to believe the contrast in acts from Tuesday into Wednesday at the venue as Sara Bareilles had mentioned when she came out to introduce opening act Hannah Georgas. Heavy metal giants Megadeth rocked the house the night before and the warm and fuzzy tunes of Bareilles took over the venue on Wednesday.
A few minutes before Bareilles took to the stage it started to rain. Once she came out it rained harder and stayed coming down for about an hour of her show. This rain caused a double rainbow to be seen straight on from the stage to the back of the venue making it a unique night.
“Little Black Dress” from her latest release The Blessed Unrest, opened the show. “I Wanna Be Like Me” and “Love On The Rocks” followed suit. It wasn’t until she broke into those familiar piano chords that kickstarted her breakthrough song “Love Song” that the crowd really came to life.
As she lead into heading the sum the rain came down harder by songs end a rainbow appeared and eventually a second rainbow as well. The rain kept coming down as she played the song she wrote about New York City entitled “Manhattan”. The song kind of fit the somber mood of the rain.
The rain finally stopped as the umbrellas came down and Bareilles closed out her set with “King Of Anything” and “Brave” a pair of top forty hits and both platinum selling singles.
Although it rained for most of the show, Bareilles did not let that dampen her spirirts. She kept the music coming and the fans, at least the majority of them stayed till the end. A memorable night for sure at Artpark, one that will be remembered by Bareilles and her fans for years to come.
