This album marks the 2nd Journey album with vocalist Arnel Pineda. And while it seems the album posseses Journey-like qualities throughout, it is a departure from the 2008 Revelation album. The songs are more guitar orienated as opposed to the keyboard dominance of Revelation. There are only a few tracks that even sound like classic Journey. The band has managed to update its sound yet still has the retained a hint of what their all about. Guitarist Neal Schon has made the album he wanted to and while it is a guitar dominated album more so than in the past, it does stand up to the rest of the Journey catalog just fine.

Final Analysis: A must have for fans of the band. Escape fans may feel it is a departure.
