The Avalon Theatre inside the Fallsview Casino came alive to the sights and sounds of Third Eye Blind Thursday evening. The show marked the first time the band played the prestigious venue. It had been some four plus years since the band played close to the Buffalo area.

The band came out of the nowhere in 1997 with their debut which ended up going 6X-Platinum. They followed that up with their platinum release Blue and 2003s Out Of The Vein which captured them a gold record. The band is currently doing dates in support of their latest Dopamine which came out in June.

When one says Third Eye Blind, the first thing that comes to mind is singer-songwriter Stephan Jenkins. Following many lineup changes over the years he is the lone constant member that has appeared on every release. He is also considered one of the top songwriters in the business during the bands tenure which began in 1997.

The band opened with “Shipboard Cook” a track from Dopamine. One of the many highlights of the night was “Crystal Baller” a song from Out Of The Vein.
Jenkins then stood on stage alone for an acoustic rendition of “Blade” which did not appear on the original set list. One thing Jenkins likes to do is change things on the fly. He made it a point to mention Third Eye Blind do not use any backing tracks or play along to computers.

The band closed out the show with one of their biggest hits “Jumper” before exiting and returning for a three song encore that included mega smash hit “Semi-Charmed Life”. The band closed out the night with “God Of Wine” a song that has been played only a handful of times in 2015.

Jenkins and the current version of Third Eye Blind delivered a show that gave anyone not familiar with the band a good idea what they are all about. They also gave their fans a treat by being able to give them an intimate show, one many will remember for a long time to come.
