Paul Nelson has done it all. While he may not be a household name when it comes to the mainstream, in the world of blues he is known as an accomplished guitarist and producer. After winning a Grammy for producing Johnny Winter’s Step Back he has become an in-demand producer that is highly sought after. Nelson has a great ear and has a niche for finding the right sound.
Paul Nelson remains one of the busiest men in music. No matter how busy he is he always takes time to talk to us here at www.rockshowcritique.com. We recently caught up with him to see what he has been up to.
He is currently working on new material for the follow up to the Paul Nelson Band’s 2016 release Badass Generation. With the demands for him to be out on the road it has pushed back the timeline he originally had for the next album.
His band currently consists of drummer Go-Go Ray who has played with Samantha Fish, bassist Jeff Howell who has played with Foghat and singer Ethan Issac.
Paul’s calendar has remained full. He recently produced Otis an up and coming act out of Kentucky whose new release Eyes of the Sun is garnering rave reviews. ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons has given it high praise. Meanwhile the rest of his calendar is filling up with more touring, more writing, recording and producing as well as a project he is planning with Derek St. Holmes.
