Alanis Morissette sporting a new hairdo, took the stage at Seneca Niagara Events Center Saturday evening in front of a capacity crowd. Her dark hair was replaced with a strawberry blonde look although it was still worn straight. Morissette is currently touring under the Intimate and Acoustic moniker.

Morissette started the proceedings off with “You Learn” from her mega-album Jagged Little Pill. Released in 1995, Jagged Little Pill has gone on to sell over 33 million copies worldwide. An astonishing feat for an artist who up to that point was only known in her native Canada. It has also won numerous awards and the critically acclaimed album has always found its way when mentioned in any best of all-time lists. The album was well represented during her fourteen song set.

Like many acoustic type shows Morissette told stories and interacted with the audience more-so than she would have had it been a full band show. For this show she was accompanied by guitarists Jason Orme and Julian Coryell both of whom have toured with her over the years.

Morissette said she waited and waited for a man to write the comeback song to her hit “You Oughta Know”. Since no one did she decided to write it herself from a male point of view herself entitled “A Man”. Highlights also included her standards “Hand In My Pocket”, “Ironic” and closer “Thank You”.

She attracted a large contingent of diehard fans in the rear of the venue, who cheered her every word as she spoke between songs giving her opinion on various things. While Morissette may not reach platinum record sales anymore (who does?) she does still manage to have her studio albums reach the top ten. In this day and age of record sales that alone is quite an accomplishment. Morissette is now in the prime of her career. Judging by the audience Saturday evening they concurred.
