Kenny Alphin and John Rich better known as the country-rock duo Big & Rich, invaded the Seneca Allegany Casino Saturday evening. This show marked one of only a handful the band has played so far in 2013 as they are in the process of recording their as of yet untitled fifth studio album.

One look at the stage complete with the Big & Rich bar, stools and all set up which was elevated in the rear center of the stage, and you knew you were in for a wild time. In some aspects it didn’t even feel like a country show. The show while country in nature also had elements of rock (an AC/DC cover), dubstep/rap (DJ Sinister & Cowboy Troy) and even a pop medley.

As I walked into the venue the aforementioned DJ Sinister was onstage and after a few minutes his performance ended. He then introduced Big & Rich and they stormed the stage with “Comin’ To Your City” which got the show got off to a blazing start.

Following a quick countryfied version of AC/DC’s “You Shook Me All Night Long” complete with fiddle and banjo, Rich then asked if anyone in the audience was in love. He found a couple who said they were and invited them to slow dance on stage to “Lost In This Moment” the band’s number one hit. A cool version of Tom Petty’s “Last Dance For Mary Jane” followed shortly thereafter.

The band took the time to thank all the military personnel past, present and currently serving for our freedom just before breaking into “8th Of November,” a song that is widely recognized as one of the best about war.

Troy Coleman better known to many as Cowboy Troy came out during “Love Train” as he stayed out for the last quarter of the show. He also played a new single entitled “Drink Drank Drunk” which just came out on itunes last week and features Big & Rich. The show ended as Rich lit a prop guitar on fire and finished it off by smashing it in pieces.

I have attended many concerts over the years so maybe I didn’t think nothing of the volume level of the concert. On the way out of the show I overheard a few people saying how loud they thought it was. I guess Big & Rich really do live up to their slogan of loving it loud.
