The legendary trio of Billy Gibbons, Frank Beard, and Dusty Hill known as ZZ Top, closed out the Tuesday In The Park Series at Artpark in Lewiston, NY. The sold out crowd almost seemed as though it was beyond capacity, as it was hard to move around the venue.

From what I gathered, the droves of fans making their way in during The Sheepdogs opening set, were drawn in from their tailgaiting by their music. I heard comments like, “man, these guys are good”, and “I didn’t know these guys were opening”. The Sheepdogs received quite an ovation, and left the crowd’s mouth watering for more loud, driving music… and ZZ Top delivered.

Blasting into “Got Me Under Pressure” as soon as they hit the hit the stage, they rolled right through their short set with the musicianship, and showmanship, that one has grown accustomed to over the years watching them perform. The three of them know each other so well, that their anticipation of each other’s actions, is almost innate.

Ending their set with their hit “Legs”, they waved and exited the stage. With the crowd chanting “ZZ TOP!”, they returned to play a three song encore, ending with “Tush”. Some of the crowd began to disperse, while most started chanting again. Once again, they returned for a final encore of an Elvis Presely cover, “Jailhouse Rock”, which had everyone dancing once last time, and I thought was a fitting end to the summer series.
