The Go-Go’s pervaded into the Seneca Niagara Casino Saturday evening as they played their first ever show in Niagara Falls, NY. The band just five shows deep into their 2013 summer tour seemed to be in tiptop form as they tore through a rapidly paced eighty minute set. The band consists of original members, singer Belinda Carlisle, guitarist Jane Wiedlin, drummer Gina Schock and guitarist/keyboardist Charlotte Caffey. Original bassist Kathy Valentine was dismissed a few months back and Abby Travis has been filling in on bass as she had previously toured with the band before.

Carlisle’s voice sounded as good as ever as the band began with “Get Up And Go”, a song that set the night in motion. Surprisingly they opted to go right into one of their highest charting singles “Vacation” second, despite one anticipating it would appear towards the end of the set. Wiedlin introduced “Mad About You”, as a song stolen from Carlisle’s solo career and was the lone Carlisle solo song in the set.

In reference to the bands fame for being the first all-female band to write and play all their own instruments, Caffey announced “that we play 100% live” much to the rapture of the crowd as she started the keyboard intro to the quirky “Automatic”.

A quick cover of the Rolling Stones “Paint It Black was soon followed by the band selecting members of the audience to come up on stage and dance during the band’s rendition of “Cool Jerk”.

The show moved along so fast that before you knew it the band launched into their classic “We Got The Beat” which had a verse of Kiss’ “Rock And Roll All Nite” mixed in before the band ended the set with “Our Lips Are Sealed”.

It must be said that the sound of the band was impeccable and Carlisle’s amazing vocals made it all the more enjoyable. The band has only gotten better with age it seems as their musicianship also added to the delight of the whole atmosphere.
